Using the law as an instrument of justice throughout South Africa

The LRC – an independent, client-based, non-profit public interest law clinic with offices in Cape Town, Durban, Grahamstown, and Johannesburg – provides free legal services to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized throughout South Africa.

LRC lawyers use the law to pursue justice and human rights in the areas of environmental justice; equality and non-discrimination; housing, evictions, and local government planning; education and children’s rights; refugees, asylum seekers and migrant protection; and community access to land and resources. Much of the LRC’s work today concerns government accountability, corruption, and transparency.
